Long and luscious hair is something every woman dreams about and craves. We especially want it the minute after we chop our hair off but unfortunately, long hair is something that comes very slowly and requires a lot of care to make sure that it’s healthy. Generally, you can’t rush a good thing but you’re in luck because we have a few tips to get you those gorgeous locks sooner than you may think!

  1. Cut it – Let’s start with the bad news: You have to trim your hair on a regular basis if you want to grow it out quickly. Regular trims are going to keep split-ends away which can make your hair break off if left to their own devices. Plus, hair that’s nice and neatly trimmed is shinier and smoother which is always a good thing! So do yourself a favor and don’t skip this step no matter how counterintuitive it may seem!
  2. Nourish It – We don’t mean with products, (although we’ll get to that later) we’re talking about nourishing your hair from the inside out. Your hair is a byproduct of what you’re putting in your body so make sure that you’re getting the proper nutrients that are essential to long and
healthy hair. Increase your protein intake and pop a daily vitamin for best results and healthy new growth.
  3. Cool It – We love a nice, long, and steamy shower but unfortunately it’s pretty bad for our skin and our hair. While we’re not saying that you have to take cold showers, you should at least turn your temperature down when rinsing your hair. This is going to help seal the cuticle and make your hair stronger.
  4. Brush It – We’re sure that you brush your hair in the morning and probably even a couple of times throughout the day. But, are you brushing your mane before you hop in bed at night? If not, you’re missing a key step in growing your hair out! Brush your hair from your scalp to the tip a few times before you lay down at night. This will spread your hair’s natural oil and increase circulation in your scalp.
  5. Spoil It – The worst thing for your hair is the abuse it gets from too much product and tools that are too hot. It’s worth the extra money to make sure that you’re investing in good products that won’t turn your hair brittle or build up on the strands. Also, if you’re not using a heat protectant you have to start NOW! Putting super-hot tools directly on your hair without any protection leads to frizzy hair that breaks off – not what you want!

5 Ways to Make Hair Look Gorgeous https://www.siouxfallshair.com/uncategorized/5-ways-to-make-hair-look-gorgeous/ Mon, 08 Aug 2016 04:52:49 +0000 http://demo.oceanthemes.net/modis/?p=37 The post 5 Ways to Make Hair Look Gorgeous appeared first on Southeastern Hair Design.

We all want flowing locks that shimmer in the sunlight and are free from frizz. However, what we want and what we have are rarely the same thing. But that doesn’t have to be the case when it comes to your hair! We have five simple things to do to make your hair look gorgeous without breaking the bank!

  1. Skip a day between shampoos. – Washing your hair with shampoo every day strips your hair of the healthy oils that it needs to stay hydrated and beautiful. Instead, only use shampoo every other day with a small amount of conditioner. If your roots get oily on the off days, you can spritz a little bit of dry shampoo to refresh them.
  2. Sleep on silk. – Give your head the royal treatment at night and rest it on a silk pillowcase instead of cotton. This may seem like an indulgence, but it’s actually easier on your hair and cuts down on frizz since it doesn’t rough up your hair cuticle as much as cotton does. Just doing this one step can give you smoother hair while you dream!
  3. Protect your hair from heat. – You’ve heard it a million times but we’re telling you again: if you use heat tools on your hair you HAVE to use protectant spray! Putting a hot iron or even just hot hair directly on your strands will fry them in no time! This leads to dry and brittle hair in the long run and frizzy hair immediately. Instead, spray a heat protectant spray before you fire up that dyer.
  4. Take care of your hair. – Wait, isn’t that we’ve already been talking about? Yes. But we’re saying take of your actual strands by getting them trimmed on a regular basis and treating them with care in between salon visits. Getting regular trims will help keep split ends away which are not very attractive. But between those trims, you need to be gentle when you’re brushing out your hair. Work from the bottom up and carefully tame any tangles instead of ripping through them.
  5. Treat it from the inside out. – Having gorgeous hair starts inside of your body! So make sure that you’re eating healthy foods and taking a daily multivitamin. Your hair is completely made of protein, so if your body isn’t getting enough of it, your hair will definitely show it! Feel your body the proper amounts of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and herbs and your hair will thank you for it by being glossy and strong.

There you have it! Five simple things that you can do to get gorgeous hair. None of which cost too much or take up too much time, so you have no excuse to skip them! By following these tips, you’ll be showing off your glossy, smooth, and frizz-free hair within a matter of days. Remember, though: the key is consistency! If you want to keep the results that you get, you have to keep pampering your hair. It’s worth it!

If the eyes are the window to the soul, what are your eyes saying about yours? We have 14 easy ways to get standout eyes and make sure that they pop. Try them for yourself and see the difference!

  1. Choose Your Colors Wisely – Your eyeshadow color has a big role in how your eyes pop. Choose the best eyeshadows for the color of your eyes. Blue-eyed beauties: choose browns, silver, and beige. Green-eyed ladies: go with purple, silver, and pink. Brown-eyed babes: play with tan, gold, and blue.
  2. Brighten Up – Do you need to make your eyes look a little brighter? Help them wake up by applying a little beige or peach liner along your bottom rim. You’ll look like you had a full night’s sleep!
  3. Make Them Bigger – Do you think your eyes are a little on the small side? That’s an easy thing to fix! Line your top lash line from midway across your lid to the outer edge or a little beyond. Then line your bottom lashes about a quarter of the way in. Your eyes will magically appear bigger!
  4. Curl Those Lashes – One step you should never skip if you’re trying to make your eyes stand out is curling your lashes! Clamp slowly and hold for a few seconds, then pulse three times before releasing. Repeat on each eye two times and you’ll be amazed!
  5. Coat with Mascara – Mascara is the easiest way to make your eyes pop in no time. Line your top lashes in black and your bottom lashes in brown. This slight difference in shades makes a huge difference in the way your eyes look!
  6. Highlight – Take white eyeliner or shadow and dot along your brow bone and your inner-eye corner for a brighter eye.
  7. Try Falsies – For special nights on the town, go bold with a set of fake lashes. Top them off with dramatic black liner and you’ll look fabulous!
  8. Get Clear Eyes – If you have red eyes, the last thing you want to do is make them stand out! So start with redness reducing eye drops for clear and white eyes.
  9. Line Up – Line your waterline, or the inner rim of your eye, for extra definition and intensity. You’ll also get the look of a thicker, fuller lash line.
  10. Lengthen Your Lashes – Do you have some lashes that are a little on the short side? Thicken them up with translucent powder before you apply mascara. They’ll appear longer and thicker!

Wash your hair. Regardless of which of the below methods you choose, getting your hair wet first is an important step. Curls will look better in clean hair.

  • Use shampoo to make sure your hair is clean.
  • When using conditioner, do not apply it to your scalp but instead focus on the ends of your hair. This makes your hair lighter so that it is not weighted down.\

Dry and comb your hair. Eliminate excess water by squeezing it out or using a microfiber towel or t-shirt. Leave your hair slightly damp. The curls will last longer this way.

    • If you have very thick hair, use a blow dryer to remove some of the water. Your hair should be damp, but not sopping wet.
    • Removing tangles from your hair will allow you to create smooth waves rather than knots which may catch or look unappealing.
Apply leave-in conditioner. Leave-in conditioners make hair smoother, stronger and more flexible. Begin by working a small amount, about 1 tsp, into your hair. Too much conditioner can leave your hair weighed-down.

  • Apply conditioner to sections of your hair to ensure it is evenly distributed. Avoid applying it to your roots. Apply leave-in conditioner to your ends and about halfway up to your roots.
  • Don’t use leave-in conditioner and regular conditioner if your hair is fine.
  • You can add more conditioner as needed.
Consider a curl-enhancing product. If you have very straight hair that struggles to hold a curl, adding a texturing spray, sea salt spray, light hold gel, or a small amount of mousse may help your hair hold a curl for longer. A curl-enhancing cream can also be helpful if your hair has a slight wave to it already.[1]

  • The top layer of your hair will need the product the most. As long as you choose the best product for your hair type, your hair should not look greasy.
